1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy applies to https://webmastersldn.com and every subdomain, page and service operated under it, including the Webmasters LDN client portal (together, the “Site”). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains in greater detail how we handle personal data, and our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the Site.
We use cookies and similar technologies in accordance with the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (PECR), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where a cookie processes personal data, that processing is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
The data controller responsible for the Site is Webmasters LDN, a software studio based in the United Kingdom. References to “we”, “us” and “our” are to Webmasters LDN.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device (computer, tablet or phone) when you visit it. Cookies let the website recognise your device, remember information about your visit and make the site work, work more efficiently, or report on how it is used.
We also use technologies that behave like cookies, and we treat them under this policy in the same way. These include:
- Local storage and session storage, which store information in your browser (for example, your language preference or your cookie choices).
- Pixels, tags and software development kits, which may be used by us or our service providers to deliver or measure functionality.
- Tokens used to keep you signed in to the client portal and to protect against fraudulent or automated activity.
Cookies may be “session” cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or “persistent” cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them. They may be set by us (first-party cookies) or by a third party providing a service to us (third-party cookies).
3. The lawful basis for using cookies
Under PECR we may place strictly necessary cookies without your consent because they are essential to provide a service you have requested. For all other cookies (functional and analytics), we rely on your consent, which you give through our cookie banner. Where these cookies process personal data, our lawful basis under the UK GDPR is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)).
You are not required to accept non-essential cookies. The Site will continue to function if you reject them, although some conveniences may be reduced.
4. Categories of cookies we use
4.1 Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
These cookies are required for the Site to operate and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take, such as signing in, securing your session, or recording your cookie preferences. We use these to:
- authenticate you and keep you signed in to the client portal;
- protect the security and integrity of your session and our infrastructure;
- balance load across our servers so the Site stays available;
- remember the cookie choices you have made, so we do not ask you again unnecessarily.
Our authentication and session cookies are provided through our infrastructure provider, Supabase, which we use for database, authentication and storage services.
4.2 Functional cookies (consent required)
These cookies let the Site remember choices you make and provide enhanced, personalised features. For example, they remember your selected language and regional formatting so you do not have to set them on every visit. If you do not allow these cookies, some features may not work as expected.
4.3 Analytics and performance cookies (consent required)
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site by collecting and reporting information on an aggregated basis. They tell us which pages are most and least visited and how visitors move around the Site, so we can improve it. If you do not allow these cookies, we will not know when you have visited and cannot measure performance. We do not currently use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we will update this policy and ask for fresh consent before introducing any.
5. Third-party services that may set cookies
Some features of the Site rely on trusted third-party providers who may set their own cookies or similar technologies. We only allow cookies from these providers in line with the consent you give. They include:
- Supabase — authentication, session management and secure access to the client portal (strictly necessary).
- Stripe — payment processing and fraud prevention when you pay an invoice. Stripe may set cookies to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, which are treated as strictly necessary for that transaction.
- Our hosting and content-delivery providers — operational cookies used to deliver the Site reliably and securely.
These providers act as separate controllers or as our processors depending on the service. Their own privacy and cookie notices govern the data they collect through their cookies. We recommend you review them. We describe our use of these providers in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
6. How long cookies last
The lifespan of each cookie depends on its purpose. Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period; for example, the cookie that records your consent choices lasts up to 180 days, after which we will ask you again. Authentication cookies last for the duration of your signed-in session and are refreshed while you remain active.
7. Managing your cookie choices
When you first visit the Site you are shown a cookie banner that lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or manage your preferences by category. Strictly necessary cookies are always on because the Site cannot function without them.
You can change your choices at any time by selecting “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page, which reopens the preferences panel. Your selection is recorded and applied immediately.
You can also control cookies through your browser settings, including deleting existing cookies and blocking future ones. Because each browser is different, see your browser’s help pages for instructions (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and others each provide their own controls). Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the Site, including the client portal, from working.
For general guidance on cookies and how to manage them, you can visit the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
8. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” setting. There is no agreed industry standard for how to respond to such signals. We honour the choices you make through our cookie banner rather than relying on browser-level signals, except where required to do so by law.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the cookies we use, or for operational, legal or regulatory reasons. When we make a material change to the categories or purposes of cookies, we will ask for your consent again. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
